Despite the fact that Captiva Island is connected to Sanibel by a bridge, and that it is almost always mentioned in the same sentence as its larger neighbor, Captiva retains a unique appeal. Much of this results from the exclusivity and resulting small town feel of the island. There's no need for a car on Captiva, the beach, great restaurants and shops are never more than a five minute walk away.

Since Captiva is so narrow, in places you can see both the Golf and the Bay, it's no surprise that many of its recreational opportunities stem from the water. Sailing, fishing and paddling excursions to the outer islands are just a few of the abundant aquatic activities visitors enjoy. All Captiva's beaches face west, so vacationers are front and center for ta spectacular sunset every evening.
